When you look for a self storage facility you will want to consider not only the location of the facility, but how up to date the facility is in security, safety, access and convenience.

Security Cameras

Look for video recorded cameras that cover the access points to the property. The old method uses VHS video tapes while the new method we have incorporates state of the art DVR (digital video recorder). Video is recorded from each camera and saved for months rather than rotating VHS tapes daily through a recorder where the tapes degrade with each new recording. Playback on the DVR is easily and quickly reviewed by time and camera.

Computerized Access and Alarms

A state of the art facility should have an integrated computer system to manage access to your self storage unit. A good facility will have door alarms for each unit, and computerized security code gate access. Our system of individual door alarms and computer gate access control can provide you with reports to show when you entered the property, when you opened your unit door, when you closed your unit door and when you exited the property. If you have multiple people using your unit you can assign each person a different code, then you will have a specific record of who accessed your unit and when. If your unit would ever be compromised the door alarm will report to our 24 hour monitored security company and we will be dispatched to the property to trouble shoot the problem.

Steel Construction and Roll Up Doors

Look for a facility that has steel interior wall construction with steel doors. Steel provides maximum protection and is easier to keep clean. I would also look for roll up steel doors to protect access to your unit. A roll up door can be raised conveniently out of your way when you are moving big furniture and boxes into and out of your storage unit. Roll up doors usually provide the biggest opening to you unit. Swing doors always seem to get in the way. Moving is never fun, but wide easy access can make your move more convenient.
